چکیده

Acetaldehyde has recently been added to the list of chemicals in the control law for offensive odor in Japan, and its concentration in the atmosphere is limited by the law to the range of 0.05 to 0.5ppm1). Acetaldehyde is emitted into the atmosphere particularly from the factories producing acetic acid, vinyl acetate, and chloroprene. It is well known that acetaldehyde irritates the mucous membrane of the eyes, nasal cavity, and pharynx2), and may be formed as a secondary pollutant by photochemical reactions in the atmosphere. Thus far, it has mainly been removed by a wet process1) and by catalytic decomposition with iodine3). In my preceding paper4), I studied the adsorption removal of methyl mercaptan. The

Removal of H2S and Mercaptan from Outlet Gases of Kermanshah Refinery Using Modified Adsorbents (Bentonite and Sludge)

In this work, adsorbents, namely bentonite and sludge, modified by iron and copper were used to remove the H2S and mercaptan from Kermanshah refinery. The used adsorbents are inexpensive materials, which substantially decrease the operational costs. The structure of the adsorbents was analyzed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Th...

A review on Carbon nanotubes adsorbents for the removal of pollutants from aqueous solutions

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are a novel material that exhibits good adsorption behavior toward various toxic pollutants in aqueous solution. These adsorbents have a fast adsorption rate and high adsorption efficiency, efficient to remove various pollutants and they are easy to recover and reuse. These features highlight the suitability of CNTs for the treatment of water polluted with heavy metal io...

Enhanced Adsorption of Organic Compounds over an Activated Carbon Cloth by an External-Applied Electric Field

Adsorption of pollutants on activated carbon is an effective air pollution control technique. In this study, a strong and non-uniform electric field was applied over an activated carbon fiber cloth. The adsorption kinetic of several organic compounds (Acetone, Acetaldehyde, Benzene, Cyclohexane, Ethanol, Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Toluene, 1-Propanol) on the activated carbon cloth was evaluated in th...

Efficient removal of reactive Blue-19 from textile wastewater by adsorption on methyl Imidazolium modified LUS-1 and MCM-48 nanoporous

In this study, N-methyl-N'propyltrimethoxysilylimidazoliummodified LUS-1 and MCM-48 nonoporous materials were prepared and employed as adsorbent for removing Reactive Blue-19 from aqueous solutions.LUS-1 and MCM-48 were made based on the previous procedure and modified with N-methyl-N'propyltrimethoxysilylimidazolium chloride. XRD analyses did not show any lattice alteration between modified an...
